Where I live, scientists have determined that Solstice begins sometime around 5 in the evening on the 20th. You can imagine the humor this brings to people who keep more natural time.

For most people I know, Solstice begins at dawn on the 21st. For me, this is Summer Solstice. Depending on where you live on this big blue marble, it could be Winter solstice for you.
Either way, Solstice marks a turning point, an invitation to turn the page and begin the next chapter of our lives.
Here’s a little sunrise meditation for you to enjoy at dawn, Solstice or any other day:
Stand facing East before dawn. As the first rays of the sun reach over the horizon, welcome NEWness into your life – new strength, new awareness, new vitality, new openness, new clarity, new adventures… whatever feels meaningful and appropriate to you.
As the sun rises higher, welcome more Light into your life.
(Remember, doctors and your mother have told you not to look at the sun, so just feel the sun and enjoy this meditation with your eyes closed or with your gaze resting on the Earth.)
Then, starting with your feet, imagine a powerful ball of energy, like the sun, radiating in each of your chakras.
Move up slowly, one chakra at a time, from the soles of your feet, up to the 8th, which is about an arm’s length above your head.
When you feel like you’re “firing on all cylinders,” bring your awareness back into your heart chakra, or, if you prefer, your tan tien or 2nd chakra.
With hands either upraised or held lightly over your chest or abdomen, just breathe and be for several minutes, and picture the Light of Life growing stronger, brighter, and more radiant within you.
When you feel complete, say your thank yous and start your day, peaceful and empowered.
