Dec 10th – lunar eclipse

December is a time of welcoming more Light into our lives. A lunar eclipse is the perfect opportunity to do just that.

This morning is a full lunar eclipse
Those of you living in Alaska, the Yukon, Northern BC, Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia and Asia will probably have the best views. But some of us living in other places may still catch a glimpse. Information about times is quite conflicting, but it seems the eclipse starts about 4:45a Pacific time, and is at its peak sometime between 6 and 6:30a Pacific time.

There are so very many ideas out there about eclipses and their effects and meanings. Here’s my view:

I think eclipses are kind of like cosmic reset buttons, or reboots.
Solar eclipses tend to affect externals, the way we are in the world, politics, etc. Lunar eclipses tend to affect the inner, more personal world. The moon governs the tides, and water is a large part of our physical make up. Water is a symbol and metaphor for both the unconscious and the emotions. Any observant person has noticed that many people tend to be more emotional when the pull of the moon is strongest.
In many traditions, the sun represents the active, physical and social arenas, and the moon represents the contemplative, soulful, private and receptive realms.

In general, eclipses are a time to let go of something old, and begin something new.

Of course, any day or night or event carries for you only the significance that you personally attach to it.

That said, this is an opportunity to release some inner pattern that no longer serves you and begin something new that is more joyful and fulfilling.

Even if you can’t see the eclipse where you live, you can still tune in to its movements.
(And tomorrow, someone will probably post a time lapse of the whole event on youtube.)

+ Calculate what time the lunar eclipse will be at its peak wherever you are on the planet. If you can see it, enjoy it. If you can’t see it, you can still take advantage of the opportunity even if you’re reading this hours later.

+ Choose some old thought or emotion pattern you are ready to release.
Perhaps you have some old resentment, or maybe there’s a particularly critical phrase of judgement towards self and others that you’re ready to replace with Love. Whatever it is, choose something to release.
Say it out loud. “I now choose to let go of _________________.”

+ Like the moon re-emerging from the shadow, consciously identify the new thought or emotion you are NOW choosing.
Say it out loud. “I now choose to welcome more of the Light of _________________  into my life.”

+ Enjoy this new way of BEing, Moon Baby! ;-)

This info came at the perfect time. I did a google search to find out when the eclipse was and I got so many different times… and then there’s UT and GMT and different conversion charts … it was really confusing! I really wanted to see the eclipse, but I didn’t know when it was. And I wanted to get some sleep. I almost gave up. Then, I got your email. Awesome! Set the alarm. Caught some zzzzzzz’s. Got up, put on my fluffy robe, made a cup of cocoa, plopped a chair in front of the window and had an awesome time watching the eclipse until dawn. Thank you! Carrie Moon Baby LOL
